Wyborowa is a 37.5% ABV classic Polish vodka produced in Poland by Pernod Ricard, made purely from rye and water. Its name means "selected" in Polish. The brand is recognised as the first vodka registered as an international trademark, in 1927, and is one of the best-known representatives of Poland's distilling tradition worldwide. The producer emphasises that the recipe continues a distilling tradition spanning centuries, and that its raw material is pure Polish rye.
What does Wyborowa taste like?
The producer describes Wyborowa by its velvety texture and natural sweet notes. According to retailers' tasting notes, the nose carries light rye, fine spice and soft grain tones. On the palate it is smooth and medium-bodied; a gentle rye spice is balanced with a light sweetness. The finish is lively, warming and silky, with rye and light sweetness lingering on the palate for a while.
How is it served?
As in Polish tradition, it can be drunk neat, well chilled, in small glasses. Rye's spiced character stays pronounced in cocktails such as the Bloody Mary and Moscow Mule, and in long drinks made with apple juice or tonic.
What food does it pair with?
It pairs well with Polish table classics such as herring, smoked fish, pickles and cold cuts. Rye's spiced structure also matches grilled meats and barbecue flavours.
