Sobieski Vodka

Sobieski is a 37.5% ABV plain rye vodka produced in Poland from Polish rye and spring water alone. It takes its name from 17th-century Polish king Jan III Sobieski and is now part of the United Beverages group's portfolio. The producer states the vodka is distilled at Poland's oldest distillery, in the country's tallest continuous distillation column (around 40 metres). Its raw material is the Dankowski rye variety native to Poland, and the product is made and bottled entirely in Poland in line with "Polish Vodka" rules.

What does Sobieski Vodka taste like?

The producer explains that the rye gives Sobieski a fine aroma reminiscent of ripe Polish grain and a silky taste. It has a smooth, delicate structure on the palate; the charcoal filtration applied after distillation smooths the taste further.

How is it served?

It can be drunk neat, well chilled, in small glasses. Owing to its smooth, delicate structure, the producer especially recommends Sobieski for cocktails; it is a suitable base for long drinks made with tonic, fruit juices and carbonated drinks.

What food does it pair with?

On Polish tables, plain vodka is drunk alongside meze such as herring, pickles, cold cuts and smoked fish. The grainy character of rye also pairs well with grilled meats and barbecue flavours.
