Talisker Distillers Edition

Talisker Distillers Edition is a 45.8% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Talisker Distillery, owned by Diageo, on the Isle of Skye. Released each year with a specific distillation year, this release completes its maturation in amoroso sherry casks.

What does Distillers Edition mean?

In Diageo's Distillers Edition series, each distillery's whisky rests briefly in a second cask type following its classic maturation. For Talisker, this second stage lasts up to six months in casks that previously held amoroso sherry. This softens the distillery's sharp peat and pepper with sweet, juicy fruit, resulting in a richer, sweeter Talisker with a bittersweet balance.

What does Talisker Distillers Edition taste like?

The nose shows rich, juicy dried-fruit layers interweaving with Talisker's dry peat smoke and pepper. On the full-bodied palate, the sharp peat transforms into a great richness; sweetness, toasted malt and heather dryness are felt. The finish leaves intense cocoa, pronounced vanilla and a lasting, earthy peat.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

The producer recommends drinking it on ice or with a few drops of water. It makes a rich match with dark chocolate desserts, mature cheeses and grilled red meat.
