Talisker Dark Storm is a no-age-statement, 45.8% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Talisker Distillery, owned by Diageo, on the Isle of Skye. It was initially released exclusively for travel retail (duty free) and is known for its 1-litre bottle.
What makes Dark Storm different?
The whisky matures in heavily charred casks. The deeply charred oak adds a further sweetness, spice and fruity depth to Talisker's smoky, peppery character. The producer describes it as a malt reflecting the intensity of the Skye coast caught in the middle of a storm; it delivers a powerful character wrestling with spice and fruit on the body.
What does Talisker Dark Storm taste like?
According to reviews, the nose shows warm, spicy peat, black pepper and charred red pepper standing out; alongside them, a sweeter, more perfumed layer with caramel, cask char, banana, apple and salty sea air. The palate begins salty and spicy; oat cracker, light chilli and vanilla are joined by pear, strawberry and orange peel. On the finish, the pepper fades slowly, leaving lasting oak, red apple skin and smoke.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
The producer recommends drinking it neat or with "a raindrop" of water. It makes a strong match with barbecued meats, smoked fish and mature cheeses.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
