Sierra Antiguo Plata is an unaged tequila blanco at 40% ABV made from 100% Weber blue agave, produced by Destilerías Sierra Unidas (NOM 1451) in Guadalajara. Agaves grown in the highlands of Jalisco are distilled in copper stills, and the tequila is bottled without going into cask. Tequilas in the blanco class are bottled without oak ageing, so agave's own flavour reaches the glass without cask influence.
What does Sierra Antiguo Plata taste like?
On the nose, this crystal-clear plata tequila carries fresh, sweet agave aromas meeting light citrus and a touch of white pepper. On the palate it's soft and harmonious; sweet agave, fruity touches and a light spice are balanced. The finish is clean, long and refreshing. Being unaged brings out agave's floral, lightly spiced side.
How is it served?
Thanks to its soft texture, it can be drunk neat, lightly chilled, in a tequila glass. It also adds an elegant agave note to classic cocktails such as the Margarita and Paloma.
Which foods does it pair with?
Fresh ceviche, grilled prawns and tacos spiced with lemon and coriander are good matches. Citrus salads and light seafood meze platters also complement its refreshing structure.
