Espolòn Blanco is an unaged tequila blanco at 40% ABV made from 100% blue Weber agave at Casa San Nicolás, owned by the Campari Group. Coming from Mexico's Jalisco state, this tequila is known for its colourful label artwork inspired by Mexican culture.
What does Espolòn Blanco taste like?
On the nose, sweet agave, tropical fruit and lemon zest are prominent, followed by a light touch of pepper. On the palate it offers a soft, light-to-medium body. On the finish, notes reminiscent of vanilla pod and grilled pineapple leave a clean, tidy ending. As it's not rested in cask, the agave's vibrant, fresh character takes centre stage.
How is it served?
The producer describes it as a balanced blanco suited to neat drinking, shaking with ice, or cocktails. Alongside citrusy cocktails such as the Margarita, Paloma and Ranch Water, it can also be enjoyed lightly chilled on its own.
Which foods does it pair with?
Citrus and pepper notes suit lemony ceviche, seafood such as grilled prawns, and fresh salads with coriander. It also strikes a refreshing balance with lightly spiced Mexican-style dishes.
