Scotch Blue 15 Year Old is an age-statement blended Scotch whisky, prepared from whiskies matured for at least 15 years in oak casks. The brand was launched in Korea in 1997 by Lotte Chilsung Beverage; in Turkey and North Cyprus, it is one of the whiskies offered by the SDI Group.

The story of Scotch Blue

Lotte Chilsung describes developing Scotch Blue with blend whiskies brought from Scotland, aiming for a smooth character; the first product was the 21-year-old expression, followed by International in 1998 and the 17-year-old Special in 2001. SDI Group describes the brand as a smooth, balanced Scotch blend well loved in Turkey and North Cyprus. The 15-year-old expression is the middle step of the age-statement range sold in these markets.

What can be expected from a 15-year-old blend?

Blended Scotch is obtained by blending malt and grain whiskies in Scotland; the age on the label shows the duration of the youngest whisky in the blend. A cask period exceeding fifteen years means a rounder body and deeper oak-derived tones compared with younger blends.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

It can be served neat in a tulip-shaped glass, or with a single large ice cube. It pairs well with mature cheeses, lamb and grilled red-meat dishes.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
