Scotch Blue 13 Year Old is an age-statement blended Scotch whisky, indicating that the whiskies in the blend have matured for at least 13 years in oak casks. The Scotch Blue brand was created in 1997 by South Korea's Lotte Chilsung Beverage; in Turkey and North Cyprus, it has become widely known through the SDI Group.
What kind of brand is Scotch Blue?
Lotte Chilsung states that it built the brand with blend whiskies brought from Scotland, emphasising its smooth character. The Korean range consists of International, the 17-year-old Special, and 21- and 30-year-old expressions. SDI Group, which is prominent in sales in Turkey and North Cyprus, describes Scotch Blue as a smooth, balanced blended Scotch made using traditional Scottish blending techniques. The 13-year-old expression belongs to the age-statement range offered in these markets.
What does an age statement mean?
In a blended Scotch, the age on the label shows how long the youngest whisky entering the blend has spent in cask. Longer maturation generally brings out oak-derived tones of vanilla, caramel and dried fruit more strongly and softens the drink.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It can be served neat, with a few drops of water, or over ice. It makes a well-matched accompaniment to grilled red meat, mature cheeses and a nut platter.

- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
