Mateus Rosé Aragonez is a 10.5% ABV off-dry rosé wine made entirely from Aragonez grapes, under the renowned Mateus brand of Portugal's Sogrape. Aragonez is the Portuguese name for the grape known in Spain as Tempranillo. The story of the Mateus brand began in 1942 with the launch of Mateus Rosé, known for its distinctive bottle.
What does Mateus Aragonez taste like?
It has a salmon-pink colour. The nose is fresh, floral and fruity, with red fruit notes standing out. The palate is lightly sweet, but this sweetness is balanced by very refreshing acidity, resulting in a soft, light drink. It contains around 30 grams of sugar per litre. The wine is fermented at low temperature in stainless steel tanks and rests on its fine lees for around two months.
How should it be served?
The producer recommends serving well chilled, at 8–10°C. It is made for young drinking and should be stored somewhere cool, dry and dark. It can also be chosen as an aperitif.
What food does it pair with?
It pairs well with light dishes, fish, white meats, grilled food and salads. Grilled chicken, seafood and summer salads make particularly balanced pairings.
