Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select is a Tennessee whiskey from the Brown-Forman group, in which each bottle is filled from a single cask at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The 70cl bottle sold in Europe is 45% ABV.

What does single barrel mean?

While standard whiskeys are made by blending many casks, each bottle of Single Barrel Select carries the contents of a single cask. This means small differences in flavour from cask to cask, and the producer highlights this as the cask's own distinctive character. Matured in new, charred American oak, the whiskey is the core member of Jack Daniel's signature Single Barrel collection.

What does it taste like?

According to the producer's notes, the nose shows sweet fruit and vanilla, with a light spice underneath. The palate combines spice with a warm, rich caramel. The finish carries medium-intensity oak, clove and banana notes. Master of Malt also notes toasted oak, grain sweetness, cigar box and aniseed.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

It can be enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water, or in cocktails such as the Old Fashioned and Manhattan. It pairs well with grilled red meat, barbecued food and dark-chocolate desserts.
