Grant's Triple Wood is a 40% ABV flagship blended Scotch whisky from William Grant & Sons, made from whiskies matured in three different types of oak cask. Formerly known as Grant's Family Reserve, this blend is now presented under the name Triple Wood.

What does three woods mean?

While many whiskies take their character from a single cask type, Grant's matures Triple Wood in three different woods: a new (virgin) oak cask adds a spicy strength, American oak a light vanilla softness, and a refill bourbon cask a brown-sugar sweetness. The result, according to the producer, is a softer, fuller, more mature taste. The Grant's blend was first created in 1898; today, the blend's grain whisky comes largely from the company's own Girvan distillery.

What does Grant's Triple Wood taste like?

The nose is clean and layered; ripe pear and summer fruits stand out. On the palate, a vanilla sweetness is balanced by malt and light floral aromas. The finish is long and sweet, leaving a faint trace of smoke.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

The producer offers two classic suggestions: 50ml of whisky with 150ml of cola and an orange slice in a tall glass full of ice, or a neat serve over ice in a short glass with orange peel. Its fruity, soft character pairs well with grilled chicken, barbecued food and nuts.
