Cricova National Muscat is a dry white wine made from Muscat grapes, part of the National range from Cricova, Moldova's well-established wine house. The National range consists of young wines that clearly reflect the character of the grape variety; in this wine, too, Muscat's floral, fruity aroma takes centre stage.
Cricova is a Moldovan wine house located in the town of the same name, roughly 15 km north of the capital, Chișinău. Its cellars are an underground network formed when old limestone quarries, mined for centuries, were converted into a wine store in the 1950s, reaching a length of roughly 120 km and staying at a constant temperature of around 12°C year-round.
On the nose, a distinctive bouquet of floral and exotic fruit aromas is felt. On the palate, notes reminiscent of rose jam and jasmine's floral tones stand out within a fruity taste. Despite being dry, the Muscat grape's aromatic nature gives the wine a rich layer of aroma.
It's recommended served at 10-12°C. At this temperature, both its aromatic structure and freshness are felt in balance.
It pairs well with fresh cheeses and green salads. Its aromatic structure can also accompany light meze platters.
