Cricova Chardonnay is a dry white wine made from Chardonnay grapes, part of the National range from Cricova, Moldova's renowned wine house. The National range consists of young wines that clearly reflect the character of the grape variety.
Why is Cricova well-known?
Cricova is located in the town of the same name, roughly 15 km north of the capital, Chișinău. The company's cellars formed when old limestone quarries, mined for centuries, were converted into a wine store in the 1950s, reaching a length of roughly 120 km. Staying at a constant temperature of around 12°C year-round, these galleries are used for resting and storing wines.
What does Cricova Chardonnay taste like?
On the nose, intense floral and exotic fruit aromas stand out. On the palate, a dry, balanced structure enriched with almond and vanilla notes is felt. Chardonnay's rounded texture gives the wine a soft character alongside these notes.
How is it served?
It's recommended served at around 12°C; serving it too cold makes its aromatic richness less noticeable.
Which foods does it pair with?
It pairs particularly well with fish dishes. White meats such as chicken and turkey, along with fresh, soft cheeses, also accompany this wine's floral, almond structure.
