Carlsberg Elephant is a strong 7.2% ABV lager beer produced by Türk Tuborg at its İzmir plant under licence from Carlsberg. Its name is said to come from the elephant statues that adorn the entrance of Carlsberg's historic brewery in Copenhagen. Türk Tuborg has brewed beer at its İzmir plant since 1969 and has a long-standing partnership with Carlsberg Group.
What does Carlsberg Elephant taste like?
It is a pale golden, richly foamy beer. According to Carlsberg's description it carries a rich malt character, balanced by a light caramel note and a satisfying, dry bitterness. Its high alcohol content gives it a full body and a strong, filling drink.
How should it be served?
Strong lagers show their malt and caramel notes better when served not overly cold, at around 6–8 °C. Pouring into a wide-mouthed glass makes the caramel and malt notes easier to detect. Because of the high alcohol content, slow sipping and moderate consumption are recommended.
What does Carlsberg Elephant pair well with?
Its full malt character stands up well to intense flavours. Mature yellow cheeses, charcuterie boards and spiced dishes are good matches. It also pairs well with barbecued meats.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
