Van Pur is a very strong 10% ABV lager beer (Van Pur Extra Strong) produced by Van Pur S.A., one of Poland's large independent breweries. This is the brand's high-strength version; the same brand's 5% ABV standard lager is a separate product. Van Pur S.A. was founded in 1989.
What does Van Pur taste like?
This dark golden beer's character is defined by intense malt. A bready, distinctly sweet malt profile is felt on the palate; the finish leaves a warm impression reminiscent of toasted grain. Its high alcohol content fills out the body and adds weight to the drink.
How should it be served?
It is served cold, though an overly icy temperature mutes the malt aroma. As 10% ABV is roughly double that of standard beers, small sips, moderate consumption and drinking water alongside it are recommended. Pouring into a glass rather than drinking from the can lets you see its dark golden colour and foam.
What does Van Pur pair well with?
Its sweet, full malt character is balanced by rich, salty flavours. Barbecued meats, sausages and spiced dishes are good matches. Light dishes take a back seat alongside this strong beer.
