Budweiser is an American-style pale lager beer produced under licence in Turkey by Anadolu Efes. The brand was introduced in 1876 in St. Louis, USA, by Adolphus Busch and Carl Conrad, and today belongs to AB InBev. In most European Union countries it is sold under the name "Bud" due to an ongoing trademark dispute with Czech Budweiser Budvar.
What sets Budweiser apart from other lagers?
Alongside barley malt, the recipe uses rice, giving the beer a light, clean drinkability. A well-known feature of the brand is the use of beechwood chips during fermentation: the chips add no distinct flavour of their own but increase the surface area on which the yeast works.
How should it be served?
Light-bodied American lagers are served well chilled. Pouring at a slight angle into the glass balances the carbonation and foam; drinking straight from the bottle or can is also common.
What does Budweiser pair well with?
Its light, refreshing drinkability makes it a versatile companion. Barbecue meats, burgers, pizza and pasta, and salted nuts are classic pairings. It also offers a cooling balance alongside spicy dishes.
