Bottega Pistacchio (Crema di Pistacchio) is a 17% ABV creamy pistachio liqueur from the Italian company Bottega, made only with pistachios harvested in Sicily. Given production regions of Veneto and Sicily, the liqueur stands out for its pleasant sweetness and moderate alcohol strength.
How is it made?
Pistachios grown in Sicily, particularly on the slopes of Mount Etna, are processed by traditional methods into a paste. This paste is blended with alcohol, water and sugar; the result is a round, velvety liqueur. As with Bottega's other creams, a small amount of grappa added at the final stage gives the liqueur a distinctive aromatic quality. According to the producer's technical sheet, the liqueur contains no milk.
What does it taste like?
The pistachio-green liqueur has a nose in which an intense pistachio aroma is accompanied by a delicate touch of almond. On the palate it leaves a soft, round and elegant structure with a strong, distinctive pistachio taste.
How is it served?
It is recommended served cold, at around 3 °C, in a tumbler glass. It can be drunk neat after a meal or at any time of day; it can also be used in creamy cocktails.
What desserts does it pair with?
The producer recommends serving it alongside panna cotta, pastries, desserts and ice cream. Thanks to the affinity between pistachio and chocolate, chocolate cakes and pastries are also good company.
