Pallini Limoncello

Pallini Limoncello is a 26% ABV Italian lemon liqueur made from the Amalfi Coast's Sfusato lemons by the Rome-based family company Pallini S.p.A. The company's roots trace back to the first business founded by Nicola Pallini in 1875 in the town of Antrodoco, on the border of Lazio and Abruzzo; production continues today at the facility in Rome. The limoncello is made to an old family recipe carefully preserved by the family.

Which lemons are used?

The producer uses Sfusato lemons, certified with a protected geographical indication (PGI), grown on the terraces of the Amalfi Coast. Hand-picked and grown without chemical pesticides, these long, thin-skinned lemons carry the intense essential oils that define the limoncello's aroma. Pallini has exported its limoncello worldwide since 1999, and according to the company it is now sold in more than 45 countries.

What does Pallini Limoncello taste like?

The bright lemon-yellow liqueur has freshly grated lemon peel and ripe lemon on the nose, with a light herbal touch sensed behind it. On the palate it is sweet, fresh and full; an intense lemon aroma is accompanied by a light tartness. The finish is long and fruity, ending with light, dry spice notes.

How is it served, and what food does it pair with?

In keeping with Italian tradition, it is served ice-cold in small glasses after a meal; it is also used in summer cocktails such as a limoncello spritz. Its fresh lemon character pairs well with fruit desserts, lemon sorbet and strawberry desserts; its light character also makes it a good choice after a fish or seafood meal.
