Bacardi Carta Oro is a golden rum at 37.5% ABV from Bacardi, made by blending rums rested in cask for an average of two years. The blend's origins date back to 1862 and it is also known as Bacardi Gold. The bottle sold in Europe states Puerto Rico as its origin.
How is Bacardi Carta Oro made?
Bacardi's master blenders mature this rum in casks with charred interior surfaces, which give it its golden colour and rounded character. It is then filtered through a charcoal blend known only to the blenders, giving it a smooth texture.
What does it taste like?
According to the producer's tasting notes, vanilla, buttery caramel, roasted almond and sweet banana notes stand out, accompanied by the liveliness of orange peel. Dried apricot, walnut and light spice are also detectable. The finish is lightly oaked and short.
How is it served?
Carta Oro is a well-known base for classic cocktails made with cola and lime, such as the Cuba Libre. It performs well in bright, citrusy, bold cocktails, and can also be tried neat over ice.
Which foods does it pair with?
Its caramel and vanilla character pairs well with barbecued meats and lightly spiced dishes. On the sweet side, it makes a good accompaniment to banana- or pineapple-based fruit desserts.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
