Bacardi Carta Negra is a medium-bodied dark rum from Bacardi at 37.5% ABV. Blended by Bacardi's rum masters, this rum is rested in heavily charred oak casks; its deep mahogany colour and rich character come from this maturation. It offers a noticeably fuller and sweeter profile than the brand's lighter white rums.
What does Bacardi Carta Negra taste like?
The aromas unfold gradually. On first impression, sweet tropical fruit, buttery caramel and vanilla stand out. These are followed by smoky-sweet wood and molasses notes, with a hint of sweet liquorice also detectable. The finish is rounded off with the warmth of toasted oak and molasses.
How is it served?
It is ideal for rum and cola and other long drinks where the rum's character should stand out. It can also be drunk neat over ice; a piece of orange peel brings out its caramel notes.
Which foods does it pair with?
Its caramel- and molasses-led structure pairs well with the smoky flavours of barbecued meats and dishes such as ribs with a sweet-and-sour sauce. Dark chocolate desserts and caramel-based cakes also suit this rum well after a meal.
