Brugal Añejo is a cask-aged rum at 38% ABV from Brugal, the well-established rum house of the Dominican Republic. It also appears on the label as Añejo Superior and reflects the brand's dry, not overly sweet house style.
How is Brugal Añejo made?
The rums in the blend are rested for two to five years in hand-selected American oak casks previously used for bourbon. The result is a clean, smooth rum that keeps sweetness in the background; this deliberately drier style sets it apart from many Caribbean rums, including several of Brugal's own.
What does it taste like?
The amber-coloured rum has light woody notes on the nose, along with chocolate, vanilla and molasses. On the palate a buttery texture stands out with caramel, brown sugar, oak and spice. The finish is dry, long and pleasant.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat or over ice; thanks to its dry structure, it also stays balanced in cocktails made with cola, ginger ale or tropical fruit juices.
Which foods does it pair with?
Its caramel and oak notes pair well with barbecued meats, especially lightly smoked grills. Its chocolate note also makes for a pleasant match with dark chocolate desserts.

- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
