Captain Morgan Dark is a dark rum at 40% ABV, made by blending Jamaican rums under Diageo's Captain Morgan brand. In some markets it is sold under the names Captain Morgan Black Label or Jamaica Rum.
What does Captain Morgan Dark taste like?
The brand describes this rum as rich and full-bodied. Caramel, dark brown sugar and ripe banana stand out on the nose; on the palate, flowing toffee, aged oak and the sweetness of brown sugar come together. Its dark colour and intense body make it a rum that stands out even in mixed drinks.
How is it served?
The producer's suggestion is to serve it in a tall glass with plenty of ice and cola. One of the brand's signature drinks is the Dark & Ginger, where the rum is combined with spicy ginger ale and fresh lime. It can also be drunk neat over ice.
Which foods does it pair with?
Its caramel and brown sugar notes form a natural match with barbecued meats and barbecue-sauced dishes; grilled red meat is also a good accompaniment. On the sweet side, dark chocolate or caramel desserts complement the rum's toffee character.
