Diplomático Selección de Familia is a 43% ABV blend from Venezuela's rum house Diplomático, selected from the family's most distinctive rum reserves. The brand describes it as a sophisticated sipping rum that reflects the passion and knowledge of the craft rum-making tradition.
How is it blended?
According to the producer, rums with the most refined nuances are selected and, after an extensive tasting process, blended together. It's bottled at a higher strength than the Reserva Exclusiva, which allows the aromas to be felt more distinctly.
What does it taste like?
On the nose, vanilla, toffee, red berries and oak stand out. On the palate it shows a complex, full-bodied, soft structure; sweetness is balanced by the dry texture of oak.
How is it served?
The brand recommends serving it neat or over ice to fully appreciate its aroma profile. A tulip-shaped glass highlights the red berry and vanilla notes.
Which foods does it pair with?
Vanilla and toffee notes pair well with dark chocolate desserts. Mature hard cheeses and roasted nuts also make a good accompaniment to its full body.
