Voga Moscato is a 7.5% ABV sweet sparkling wine from the VOGA Italia series of Enoitalia, part of the Italian wine group Italian Wine Brands, made from Moscato grapes grown in Lombardy's Oltrepò Pavese region. It carries the Provincia di Pavia IGT designation and is presented in the brand's distinctive cylindrical bottle.
What does Voga Moscato taste like?
It has a straw-yellow colour with golden reflections. The nose is intensely fruity; the producer's US website mentions notes of spiced peach, golden raisin and honeysuckle. The palate offers fresh citrus, ripe apricot and grape flavours balanced by soft bubbles. This lively, medium-bodied sweet wine finishes with green apple, white nuts and a chalky touch.
Why does Oltrepò Pavese matter?
According to the producer, the magnesium-rich soils of Oltrepò Pavese strengthen the aromatic qualities of the Moscato bunches. This helps the wine preserve the grape's distinctive musky scent and fruity liveliness.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
The producer recommends serving at 6–8°C. Fruit tarts, lemon meringue pie, fresh forest fruit and baked apple desserts are the best pairings; it can also be tried with chocolate desserts. Its natural fruit sweetness is also a good choice for balancing the heat of spiced Asian cuisine.
