Sir Edward's Finest is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky in the portfolio of French drinks firm Bardinet, distilled and matured in Scotland. Bardinet acquired the brand in 1983, and since 1993 it has been part of the independent French drinks group La Martiniquaise.
What kind of whisky is Sir Edward's Finest?
The producer describes Finest as a smooth, balanced and round blend, aiming to appeal to both newcomers to whisky and experienced drinkers. Other members of the range include Smoky, Beer Reserve and a 12-year-old expression; Finest is the family's core product.
What does it taste like?
It opens light and sweet on the nose. On the palate, a full body is felt with delicate oak touches. On the finish, dried-fruit notes and spice linger in balance.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It can be comfortably used on the rocks, with soda, or in classic cocktails such as the Whisky Sour and Blood and Sand. At the table, it makes a good companion to grilled meats, barbecued food and salted nuts. Its round, lightly sweet profile also offers a comfortable start for those new to whisky. If drunk neat, a tulip-shaped glass helps gather the aromas.
