Old Virginia Smooth Honey is a 30% ABV honey liqueur, made from honey and Old Virginia Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, under the Old Virginia brand of French drinks group La Martiniquaise.
The Old Virginia brand
Old Virginia is a bourbon brand produced in the state of Kentucky, part of La Martiniquaise's portfolio. According to the producer, the brand's bourbons are made from at least 51% corn and matured in new, charred oak casks. Alongside 6- and 12-year-old bourbons, the range also includes this honey liqueur.
What does it taste like?
The producer states that honey's soft flavour is balanced by rich oak notes and a touch of sweet orange. It is noticeably lower in alcohol and sweeter than a classic bourbon.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
The producer recommends serving it on the rocks or extended with lemonade or ginger ale. It pairs well with fruit and chocolate desserts and nuts. It can also be presented chilled in small glasses. Garnishing with a slice of orange or lemon complements the citrus hints described by the producer. Its 30% ABV makes it a lighter option than classic bourbon in long, iced drinks.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
