Maxica Salt & Lemon Likörü

Maxica Crema de Tequila Sal & Limón is a 17% ABV tequila cream from the Spanish company Licores y Derivados in the Murcia region, made by combining tequila, dairy cream, lime and a touch of salt. The producer describes this liqueur as a creamy, modern take on the ritual of drinking tequila with salt and lime. In its tequila creams, the firm combines tequila made from blue agave in Mexico with a dairy-based cream; the Maxica brand's tequilas are made from blue agave grown for at least six years in the Jalisco sun.

What does Maxica Sal & Limón taste like?

According to the producer's tasting notes, the liqueur is a light cream colour, bright and silky in appearance. On the nose, pronounced lime notes give a fresh, citrus character, with a soft tequila felt behind them. On the palate, a creamy, balanced texture leads with a sweet entry and a citrus middle; a light saltiness remains on the finish.

How is it served?

The producer recommends the liqueur very cold, in a shot glass, or over ice to highlight its freshness. It can be offered as an alternative take on the traditional salt-and-lime tequila, and is also used in sweet cocktails with a citrus contrast. As it contains dairy, it should be kept in the fridge once opened and is best consumed within three months.

What food does it pair with?

The lime's tartness balanced by the salt makes a good contrast with lemon tart, fruit desserts and ice cream. Salted, toasted nuts are also a simple accompaniment alongside a chilled shot.
