Amarula Cream

Amarula Cream is a 17% ABV cream liqueur made in South Africa by the Southern Liqueur Company, blending a distillate obtained from the marula fruit with fresh cream. Marula trees grow wild in Africa's sub-equatorial regions and bear fruit only once a year, at the end of the African summer; the fruit's scent is known to attract elephants in the surrounding area. The liqueur was first launched in September 1989. The brand moved into the Heineken Beverages portfolio in 2023 with the acquisition of Distell.

What does Amarula Cream taste like?

The marula fruit is fermented and distilled, then rested for two years in French oak barrels before being blended with cream. The result is a fresh, soft, round liqueur: on the palate, a full sense of cream carries hints of the exotic marula fruit, and this fruity trace continues into the finish. How is it served?

It is served chilled, with ice, or added to hot drinks such as coffee and milky lattes. It is also used in baked desserts such as tiramisu.
