Laphroaig 10 Year Old is a 40% ABV, 10-year-old single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Laphroaig Distillery, owned by Suntory Global Spirits, on Islay. With its intensely peated, maritime and "medicinal" character, it is one of the best-known representatives of Islay whisky.

What makes Laphroaig 10 different?

Laphroaig still dries part of its malt on a traditional floor malting; the barley is smoked with thick smoke from the distillery's own peat bogs. The nearby Kilbride stream provides the water used in distillation. The whisky matures for ten years in ex-bourbon casks; the softness from the charred oak balances the harshness of the peat.

What does Laphroaig 10 Year Old taste like?

The nose immediately shows peat smoke, seaweed and a "medicinal" core, together with a light sweetness. The palate offers a surprising sweetness, touches of salt and layered peat. The finish is long and lasting, leaving a sweet seaweed sensation at the end.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

It can be enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water, or with a single ice cube. Its powerful smoke finds a good match with barbecued meats, seafood such as oysters and smoked salmon, and mature cheeses.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
