What is the story of Red Label?

Red Label was launched in its current form in 1909 by brothers George and Alexander Walker; before that, it was sold for a time as Walker's Special Old Highland. Alexander Walker designed this blend to be a lively whisky suited to mixing with soda, unlike the heavier whiskies of the era. The blend includes whiskies from distilleries such as Cardhu, Caol Ila, Cameronbridge and Teaninich.

What does Johnnie Walker Red Label taste like?

According to the producer's notes, the nose shows fresh apple, pear and a lively citrus peel from Speyside malts. On the palate, fruity sweetness, cinnamon and a peppery crackle in the middle of the tongue appear. The finish closes with the smoky touch that is the signature of all Johnnie Walker blends.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

Red Label is designed especially for mixing: highballs made in a tall glass full of ice with soda, ginger ale or cola are its best-known serve. Its lively, spicy character pairs well with barbecues, spiced dishes and everyday food such as pizza.
