Johnnie Walker Black Label 12 Year Old is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky from Diageo's Johnnie Walker range, prepared solely from malt and grain whiskies matured for at least 12 years. It has been produced in its current form since 1909 and is one of the world's best-known blends.

What kind of blend is Black Label?

The whiskies in the blend come from all over Scotland, from Speyside, the Highlands, the Lowlands and Islay. Johnnie Walker states that 12 years of maturation gives the whisky a lively, layered body: layers of sweet fruit, spice and vanilla are wrapped in a veil of smoke. Johnnie Walker's master blender Emma Walker describes this profile as "sweetness wrapped in gentle smoke".

What does Johnnie Walker Black Label taste like?

According to the producer's notes, the nose shows rich dried fruit from European oak sherry casks. On the palate, creamy toffee lingers on the tip of the tongue. The finish closes with the elegant smokiness that is the signature of all Johnnie Walker blends. Independent tastings also note honey, fig, nutmeg and allspice.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
