Johnnie Walker Blue Label

Johnnie Walker Blue Label is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky at the pinnacle of Diageo's Johnnie Walker range, prepared by selecting just one cask in every 10,000. This no-age-statement blend is known as a whisky chosen for special occasions and gifts.

What makes Blue Label special?

According to Johnnie Walker, the casks used in the blend, including rare whiskies from long-closed "ghost" distilleries, are individually selected from vast reserves. Master blender Dr Emma Walker describes Blue Label as an expression of rarity and top-tier quality. The result is an exceptionally soft blend in which layers of hazelnut, citrus, vanilla and honey close with a long, smoky finish.

What does Johnnie Walker Blue Label taste like?

On the nose, silky grain, oatmeal cake, polished oak, coconut and hazelnut-like nut notes are felt. On the palate, an unexpectedly strong spice arrives with a silky texture, rounded out by honey and roasted oak. The finish is very long but gentle in its progression; honey and spice fade slowly, leaving a soft smoke behind.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

Blue Label is generally drunk neat; it can be served at room temperature, with very little water if preferred, or with a single large ice cube. Its layered structure is best revealed alongside mature cheeses, dark-chocolate desserts and grilled red meat.
