Highland Queen is a 40% ABV blended Scotch whisky created in 1893 by Roderick Macdonald, today produced by Terroirs Distillers as the official blend of Tullibardine distillery. It is the brand's core product, referred to as its "Classic Blend".
What is the story of Highland Queen?
The blend's name comes from Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, who took the throne after arriving at the port of Leith from France in 1561. Master blender Roderick Macdonald bought Glenmorangie distillery in 1918 to supply whisky for Highland Queen; his company was known as Macdonald and Muir. By the 1970s, the brand was sold in almost every world market. Highland Queen was bought in 2008 by Tullibardine, owned by the independent family firm Terroirs Distillers.
What does Highland Queen taste like?
It has an amber colour with honeyed tones. Honey, crisp apple and toffee are felt on the nose. The palate is light-bodied, sweet and clean, with a flavour reminiscent of liquorice. The finish is short.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
Thanks to its light character, it is comfortably used extended with ice, soda or ginger ale, and in cocktails. Grilled chicken, a nut platter and a light meze selection go well alongside it.

- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
