Hennessy VS

Hennessy V.S (Very Special) is a 40% ABV V.S blend from the Hennessy house, founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy in Cognac, France, and one of the most recognised Cognacs in the world. The eaux-de-vie that make up the blend are matured predominantly in new oak barrels, a choice that gives the Cognac a bold, fragrant character. Hennessy is now part of Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of the LVMH group, and is sold in more than 160 countries.

What does Hennessy V.S taste like?

Its colour is a clear, bright amber. On the nose, fresh toasted bread, roasted almond and brown sugar form the first wave, followed by finer notes of grape. On the palate, aromatic intensity meets a rich, creamy texture, with vanilla becoming pronounced. The finish is fresh and floral. This balance of toasted and fruity notes makes V.S suitable for a wide range of uses, from neat sipping to mixed drinks.

How is it served?

It can be drunk neat with ice, though the classic serve recommended by the producer is Hennessy Ginger, made with ginger ale; the spice of the ginger brings out the natural spice in the Cognac. Versions lengthened with pineapple juice and classic cocktails such as the Sidecar are also common.

What food does it pair with?

The roasted almond and vanilla notes pair well with a nut platter and chocolate desserts. The ginger highball serve strikes a refreshing balance alongside grilled chicken and spiced dishes.
