Hennessy Very Special (Henny-Rita)

The Hennessy Very Special Henny-Rita Shaker Set is a gift pack presenting the 40% ABV V.S Cognac from the Hennessy house, founded by Richard Hennessy in Cognac in 1765, together with a branded cocktail shaker. The set takes its name from the Henny-Rita, Hennessy's Cognac-based take on the classic Margarita; the recipe is printed on the back of the box. The Cognac in the bottle is the brand's standard Very Special blend. Hennessy is part of Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of the LVMH group.

What does Hennessy Very Special taste like?

Matured predominantly in new oak barrels, V.S is a bright amber colour. On the nose, fresh toasted bread, roasted almond and brown sugar are felt first, followed by finer notes of grape and fruit. On the palate, a rich, creamy texture deepens with vanilla, and the finish is fresh and floral. Its round, robust character makes it especially useful in cocktails.

How is the Henny-Rita made?

The Henny-Rita is a citrusy, refreshing cocktail in which Hennessy V.S takes the place of tequila in a Margarita; the shaker in the set is designed for this kind of shaken cocktail. The recipe on the back of the box should be used as a guide for the proportions. V.S can also be drunk as a highball lengthened with ginger ale, or neat with ice.

What food does it pair with?

Citrusy cocktail serves go well with grilled chicken and spiced dishes. Drunk neat, the roasted almond notes make a good match with a nut platter.
