Martell VS Single Distillery is a 40% ABV VS-grade Cognac from the Martell house, part of the Pernod Ricard group, made with eaux-de-vie sourced from a single distillation origin. Introduced in May 2017, this range brings a contemporary take to the VS category. Its plain, elegant bottle design draws on the house's Cordon Bleu bottle and the traditional "montre" sample bottle used in Cognac houses for tasting samples. The single-distillery approach aims to ensure the eaux-de-vie in the blend share the same sensory profile.
What does Martell VS taste like?
On the nose, caramel, crème brûlée, candied lemon, vanilla, dried apricot and stewed plum are pronounced, accompanied by roasted Brazil nut, violet and jasmine flowers with nutmeg and cinnamon. On the palate, a light sweetness of caramel and vanilla confectionery is quickly balanced by lemon peel and spiced oak; chocolate cake and dried apricot are felt. After the sweet entry, the finish is surprisingly dry.
How is it served?
It can be drunk neat with ice, or lengthened with tonic or ginger ale. Its fruity character also makes it suitable for classic Cognac cocktails such as the Sidecar.
What food does it pair with?
The caramel and dried apricot notes pair well with fruit tarts and chocolate cakes. Toasted nuts also make a good snacking option to go with it.

- Finish
- Biscuit, green grape and dried fruit; surprisingly dry despite the sweet entry.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
