Glenfiddich Project XX

Glenfiddich Project XX is a 47% ABV single malt Scotch whisky produced by the Glenfiddich Distillery in Speyside. It is the second bottle in the Experimental Series; the "XX" in its name represents the twenty Glenfiddich brand ambassadors who contributed to the blend.

How did Project XX come about?

Twenty brand ambassadors from different countries around the world were invited to the distillery's warehouses, and each selected their own chosen cask. The twenty selected casks were combined into a single blend. The result is a malt that combines classic Glenfiddich fruitiness with spicy depth, bottled at a higher strength than the standard range.

What does Project XX taste like?

The nose opens with ripe pear, apple blossom and golden sugar; ripe orange, raisin, dried apricot and flower honey accompany them. The silky palate shows ripe apple, buttery caramel, vanilla, a light liquorice note and toasted almond. The finish is medium in length, aromatic and spicy.

How should it be served, and what does it pair with?

Due to its 47% ABV strength, it can be tried neat first, then with a few drops of water. It is a fitting bottle for a special evening or for sharing with fellow whisky lovers. As an after-dinner dram it strikes a good balance with mature cheeses, roasted nuts and fruit desserts.
