Efes Pilsen

Efes Pilsen is a 5% ABV pilsner-style lager beer brewed by Anadolu Efes from barley malt and hops using bottom fermentation. It is the first brand the company launched when it began brewing beer in 1969, and has since been one of Turkey's best-known beers. It takes its name from the ancient city of Ephesus.

What does Efes Pilsen taste like?

A light, slightly tart union of malt and hops is felt on the nose. On the palate, a full malt flavour meets a balanced bitterness. The finish opens sweet-bitter, then turns dry with a light hoppiness. This simple, easy-drinking profile makes it stand out as an everyday beer.

How should it be served?

Pilsen-style beers are best drunk chilled to around 4–6 °C. Pouring into a clean, dry glass at a slight angle and leaving a two-to-three-finger head of foam helps preserve the aroma and carbonation. Drinking straight from the bottle or can is also common.

Which dishes does it pair with?

Its light character lets it accompany many dishes. Fried or grilled chicken, köfte, pizza, nuts and snacks, seafood such as fried calamari and mussels, and salty snacks are classic pairings. It is also favoured as a refreshing balance alongside spicy dishes.
