The Singleton of Glendullan 14 Yıl The Silken Gown

The Singleton of Glendullan 14 Year Old "The Silken Gown" is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled at cask strength, 55% ABV, and produced at Diageo's Glendullan distillery in Speyside. It is a limited bottling from Diageo's 2023 Special Releases series, whose theme that year, "Spirited Xchange", celebrated encounters between cultures.

What makes it different?

The whisky matures for 14 years in oak casks, then is finished in French oak casks that previously held Chardonnay wine from Burgundy. This touch of French white wine adds a further layer to the distillery's soft, fruity character. It is bottled at natural cask strength, without chill-filtration or colour adjustment.

What does The Silken Gown taste like?

The nose is clean and vibrant: freshly cut green apple, white grape and pear come first, followed by a sense of vanilla cream and honey over puff pastry. On the palate, caramel sweetness is balanced by the light tartness of golden fruit and measured spice; the texture is both crisp and rounded. The finish is medium length, spiced and soft.

How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?

As this is a high-strength whisky, tasting it neat first and then adding a few drops of water opens up the fruit and cream notes. It pairs well alongside mature cheeses, fruit-based desserts and roasted nuts such as almonds or hazelnuts.
