The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is a no-age-statement single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, bottled at 40% ABV and produced at The Glenlivet distillery, owned by Pernod Ricard's Chivas Brothers. It takes its name from a tribute to the distillery's founder, George Smith, and is the entry-level bottling in the Glenlivet range.
How is it matured?
Founder's Reserve is matured using a combination of traditional oak casks and first-fill American oak casks. First-fill American oak gives the whisky a creamy texture along with pronounced vanilla and sweet fruit tones, producing a soft, fruity whisky in the classic Glenlivet style.
What does Glenlivet Founder's Reserve taste like?
The nose is delicate: citrus aromas, led by sweet orange, are joined by creamy vanilla and a touch of honey, with freshly cut apple and pear sugar in the background. On the palate, tangy orange peel and the sweet fruitiness of pear combine with a hint of caramelised apple. The finish is long, creamy and soft.
How should it be served, and what food does it pair with?
It can be enjoyed neat, over ice or in long drinks; its soft profile makes it a good choice for those new to whisky. Its citrussy, fruity character pairs well with fish and seafood, salads and fruit-based desserts.
