Nemiroff Honey Pepper

Nemiroff Honey Pepper is a 40% ABV flavoured vodka made with natural honey and red chilli pepper in the town of Nemyriv, in Ukraine's Vinnytsia region. Part of Nemiroff's The Originals range, this product launched in 1998 and has become one of the brand's best-known drinks. A whole red chilli pepper is placed by hand in every bottle; as it stays in the bottle it slowly releases its heat into the drink.

According to the producer, the deep amber colour and velvety texture come from a long interaction between the alcohol-water blend, honey and a range of steppe herbs; no artificial flavourings or colourings are used.

What does Nemiroff Honey Pepper taste like?

Honey's sweet, natural notes are felt first on the nose, followed by the pepper's spicy, lightly fiery tones. On the palate a delicate honey taste turns smoothly into pepper's warmth; there is a distinct contrast between sweetness and heat. Pepper's warmth lingers long on the finish.

How should it be served?

The producer recommends serving this drink chilled to 6–8 °C, in classic 30–50 ml measures; at this temperature the balance between honey and pepper comes through best. Served very cold it is livelier; closer to room temperature it drinks softer.

What does Nemiroff Honey Pepper pair well with?

Served chilled, this drink forms a good match with pickles, smoked meats and cold meze platters. Its honey and pepper character also pairs well alongside grilled red meats and barbecue dishes.
