Cortel Napoléon Brandy is a 40% ABV French grape brandy from the portfolio of Marie Brizard, a liqueur and spirits house founded in Bordeaux in 1755. Its label carries the title "Napoléon" in capital letters, as commonly used in the French brandy tradition; the bottle also carries the designation VSOP. Marie Brizard is today part of the Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits group.

What sets Cortel Napoléon apart from Cognac?

Cognac is a type of brandy specific to France's Cognac region and bound by strict rules. Cortel, by contrast, is a French brandy with no regional restriction, obtained by distilling grape wine. In this context, Cortel Napoléon is known as a basic French brandy suited to everyday use; the VSOP designation on the label indicates the blend is presented as a selection rested longer than young distillates.

How is it served?

It can be drunk neat or with ice at room temperature; it can also be made into a long drink with cola or ginger ale. It is a practical brandy used in the kitchen, particularly for flambéing desserts and flavouring cakes or fruit compotes.

What food does it pair with?

It is well suited to being served after a meal with coffee, alongside chocolate desserts and a nut platter.
