Kavalan Solist Manzanilla Sherry Cask is a single malt Taiwanese whisky from the Kavalan Distillery in Taiwan, matured in a manzanilla sherry cask and bottled at cask strength from a single cask. It belongs to the distillery's Solist range of select single-cask bottlings.
What does the manzanilla cask add to the whisky?
Manzanilla is a pale, dry style of fino sherry that matures by the coast in the Spanish town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. This cask gives the whisky a character that shifts between sweet, lightly tangy and salty tones. Kavalan was founded in Yilan by the King Car Group in 2005; Taiwan's hot climate allows the cask influence to become pronounced in a short time. The ABV of Solist bottles varies from cask to cask.
What does Kavalan Solist Manzanilla taste like?
The nose shows toasted marshmallow, milk chocolate, golden syrup, waffle and vanilla ice cream, followed by a strengthening sherry influence of raisin and prune. The palate offers dark fruit compote, molasses, dark honey, apricot poached in cider and smoky black tea. The finish is tannic, leaving a chocolate-covered-raisin impression.
How should it be served, and what does it pair with?
It is recommended to taste it neat first, at room temperature, then with a few drops of water. It makes a rich pairing with dark chocolate desserts, mature cheeses and nuts.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
