Cardhu 18 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Cardhu, one of Speyside's oldest distilleries, matured for 18 years and bottled at 40% ABV. It is the longest-matured permanent member of the Cardhu range.
Cardhu is known for its soft, sweet-natured whiskies. The 18-year maturation preserves this softness while adding richer, more complex layers such as ripe fruit, leather and chocolate. With its smoke-free, smooth texture, it is a whisky for calm sipping.
The nose shows ripe fruits such as pear, plum and cherry, with a green freshness reminiscent of pineapple and gooseberry emerging over time; wild rose, menthol, polished leather and buttery pastry accompany it. The palate is smooth and sweet, with a lively, lightly lively acidity; a fruity core is wrapped in chocolatey tones, recalling a cherry chocolate truffle. The finish is long, soft, lightly drying and full of cocoa.
It is recommended neat or with a few drops of water; water opens up the aromas without altering the main character.
Its chocolatey, fruity character pairs well with dark chocolate desserts, mature cheeses and roasted nuts.
