Bowmore 15 Year Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Bowmore Distillery on Islay, matured for 15 years with the final three years spent in oloroso sherry casks, bottled at 43% ABV. The product has previously been sold under the name "Darkest".
How is it made?
The whisky completes the first part of its maturation in bourbon casks and its final three years in oloroso sherry casks. This extended sherry influence adds rich layers such as dark fruit, burnt sugar and leather to Bowmore's peat smoke and tropical fruit character.
What does Bowmore 15 Year Old taste like?
The nose balances leathery sherry notes with ripe mango and fruit pastilles; tarred rope, burnt sugar, spiced fruit and raisin accompany it, with coconut and vanilla emerging over time. The palate brings fruit and peat smoke together; grapefruit, liquorice and a light menthol note are present. The finish leaves dark wood, soft tar, woody spice and green apple.
How should it be served?
It is recommended neat or with a few drops of water; water brings out the sweetness and tropical fruit.
What food does it pair with?
Its rich sherry and smoke character pairs well with grilled red meat, mature cheeses and dark chocolate desserts.

- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep wine bottles on their side and spirits upright.
- Serve white/rosé and sparkling wine at 6–12°C, and reds at 16–18°C.
- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
