Bowmore 12 Year Old is a medium-peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Bowmore Distillery on Islay, matured for 12 years and bottled at 40% ABV. It sits at the centre of the distillery's range.
How is it made?
The whisky is a combination of batches matured in ex-bourbon casks and oloroso sherry casks. Bourbon casks add honey and vanilla, while sherry casks bring fruity depth; Bowmore's coastal peat smoke sits in balance over these layers.
What does Bowmore 12 Year Old taste like?
The nose combines smoke with caramelised pineapple and tropical fruit; dried fruit, citrus and a light iodine and sea-air note follow behind. The palate shows pineapple, peach and mango-like fruits alongside the smoke, offering a balanced profile. The finish is soft, with the smoke fading slowly.
How should it be served?
It can be enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water, or with a single large ice cube. Its balanced smoke makes it a good option even for those new to peated whisky.
What food does it pair with?
Its coastal character pairs particularly well with fish and seafood, especially smoked fish; barbecued meats and mature cheeses are also good companions.

- Keep opened bottles closed; drink wine within a few days of opening.
