Bellapais Portakal Likörü

Bellapais Orange Liqueur is an orange-flavoured fruit liqueur produced in Northern Cyprus by Famagusta-based Sema İçkileri. It is the orange member of the firm's Bellapais liqueur range, easily identified on the shelf by its orange-illustrated label.

The story of Sema İçkileri

Sema İçkileri was founded in 1975 by Selim Süren, and describes itself as Northern Cyprus's oldest drinks factory. The firm's first product was a Cyprus brandy, and it moved into raki production in 1979. Today its range also includes fruit liqueurs in flavours such as strawberry, cherry, peach, banana, mint, coffee and fig, alongside raki and brandy.

How is it served?

Orange liqueurs can be drunk well chilled in small glasses, neat or with ice, as an after-dinner liqueur. Lengthened with soda or tonic, it becomes a light long drink; it can also be used in cocktails and dessert recipes where orange aroma stands out.

What desserts does it pair with?

Orange and chocolate is a classic pairing: a small glass of orange liqueur strikes a balanced match alongside bitter chocolate cakes and chocolate pastries. Orange revani, fruit tarts and fresh fruit platters are also a good accompaniment.
