The Bellapais Miniature Gift Set is a liqueur set bringing together miniature bottles of Bellapais fruit liqueurs, produced in Northern Cyprus by Sema İçkileri. It is made for those who want to try different flavours in small quantities, or for those looking for a meaningful gift from Cyprus.
Who makes the Bellapais liqueurs?
Bellapais is also the name of a historic village near Kyrenia. Sema İçkileri, which makes the liqueurs, was founded in 1975 by Selim Süren in Famagusta, and describes itself as Northern Cyprus's oldest drinks factory. The firm's first product was a Cyprus brandy, and it moved into raki production in 1979. Sema İçkileri's liqueur range includes flavours such as strawberry, orange, cherry, peach, banana, mint, coffee and fig; the varieties included in the set are stated on the packaging.
How is it served?
The miniature bottles can be well chilled and drunk in small glasses, neat or with ice, as an after-dinner liqueur. Setting up a small tasting arrangement to compare several flavours side by side is an enjoyable way to use them. The fruit liqueurs can also be lengthened with soda for a light long drink.
What desserts does it pair with?
The fruit liqueurs suit fruit tarts, fresh fruit platters and ice cream. Flavours such as coffee and orange also make a good accompaniment alongside chocolate cakes and pastries.
