1800 Añejo

1800 Añejo is an añejo tequila made under Jose Cuervo's 1800 brand from 100% blue Weber agave, aged for over a year in new American and French oak casks. The bottle sold in Europe is 38% ABV.

How is 1800 Añejo made?

Agaves are harvested once fully mature and processed in Jalisco; the resulting tequila is distilled twice in copper pot stills. It is then rested in new oak casks, gaining its dark amber colour and deep aroma.

What does it taste like?

According to the producer's description, an oaked vanilla note stands out on the nose; retailer notes add cardamom, clove and chocolate. On the palate, a nutty, toffee-like taste is detectable. The finish ends with a peppery spice. It is described as a tequila suited to neat sipping, one that whisky lovers might also enjoy.

How is it served?

It's recommended neat, in a tulip-shaped glass or with a single ice cube. It's also a suitable base for aged-spirit cocktails such as a tequila Old Fashioned.

Which foods does it pair with?

Oak and spice notes pair well with grilled red meat and cured meats. Mature hard cheeses and dark chocolate desserts also complement its vanilla and toffee character.
