Yeni Rakı Âlâ is a 47% ABV raisin raki, triple-distilled and rested in oak barrels by Mey|Diageo. First launched in 2011, Âlâ is the more intense, higher-strength member of the Yeni Rakı family.
Carefully selected, hand-picked grapes are dried in the sun; the producer emphasises that nature's aromas become concentrated within the raisins during this process. The suma obtained from the raisins is triple-distilled together with aniseed, then rested in special oak barrels to mature.
The producer describes Âlâ as a raki offering a more balanced, longer-lasting drinking experience thanks to its intense aniseed flavour, aromatic character and high alcohol content. Its 47% strength makes it more powerful than the brand's classic 45% bottling, so increasing the water ratio slightly to taste helps balance the drink.
According to the producer, Âlâ goes well with warm, spiced starters and all main courses, including red meat. Warm meze such as hot hummus, baked paçanga börek or içli köfte, followed by grilled red meat, lamb chops or kebab, make a table well suited to this raki. It is served diluted with cold water in a raki glass.
